Ernest James Theodore (Theo) Mashman (1895-1964), potter, was born on 19 August 1895 at Willoughby, Sydney.
Elder son of Henry Mashman (1856-1922), potter, and his second wife Elizabeth Simpson, née Wieland, a widow.
Theo, as he was known, represented the second generation of Mashmans in Australia.

19th Century Australian Cedar Shop Display Cupboard – AA0857

19th Century Australian cedar shop display cupboard, made for the “Old Adaminaby” general store in 1861.
Having two glass panelled doors and a centre glass panel enclosing a central shelf, above three deep drawers with brass swan neck handles then a shaped hinged door to a storage compartment with shaped panels to the sides, resting on a shaped plinth base.
Note: The entire construction is from cedar, the carved and gold painted highlights are possibly of German influence, with iron handles to both sides. The piece was sold in 1950 when the town became part of the Snowy River Mountain Scheme and has been garaged since.

An exceptional 19th Century Australian eucalyptus stool. The thick plank top having good faded colour and patination (note the fiddle back grain to the sides). Supported by four original turned outswept ash legs.

A rare 19th Century Australian Cedar Gothic Revival Armchair
The moulded arched cathedral back housing a deep single plank of fret carved cedar, flanked by two square block side supports, flowing into the rear sabre legs, joined to the supports are the carved shaped arms terminating into a circle with a deep fret carved shaped clover on a triangular shaped support, the large single plank seat, above a shaped moulded frieze, resting on square block chamfered legs.
Good overall colour and patination.
Note: The deep planks of cedar have been taken from a huge cedar tree and the carved detail is exceptional.
Also the turned finials above the upright side supports are missing.
