18th Century Southern German walnut serpentine shaped commode – CBO700

The well patinated marquetry inlaid top from walnut, figured walnut and fruitwoods, having a central star design. Above three graduated drawers with matching inlay veneers retaining the original oval brass handles, escutcheons and locks. Flanked by quarter moulded corners, with fielded panelled sides. Resting on the original squat bun feet.

Having a good rich overall colour and patina.

An Exceptional French Gilt Rosewood Commode of small proportions

An exceptional and rare 19th century French fruit and rosewood, ormolu mounted, bombe-shaped commode of small proportions.

The serpentine shaped moulded marble top above the bombe-shaped base, housing two floral inlaid drawers.

The sunburst inlaid shaped side panels having central smiling faces.

The entire peice, profusely adorned by the most exceptionally decorative ormolu.

Note: every peice of ormolu is signed to the rear.

Resting on outswept tapered legs, terminating on a goats foot.

Recently restored by Shane Peter Smith at Smith & Allpress Restoration. He’s done a sterling job! Hand cleaning every piece of ormolu, then sealing, so will never tarnish again.

Stunning late 19th Century French book-matched figured walnut and beautifully inlaid commode. Having the most beautiful original moulded marble top, above the slight bombe shaped drawer front. Having beautifully book-matched rich figured walnut veneers with flowing satinwood floral shaped inlays overall.

Note: matching sides.

The shaped lower frieze flowing into the high splayed legs, having narrow kingwood cross, banded to all outer edges. Having all of the original ormolu brass-work.
