Antiques dealer Jamie Allpress looks back on some of his most memorable projects over the years and the connections he has made as a result
This fair had the largest participating list of antique dealers we have ever gathered together.
The opening night had all proceeds going to UNICEF Australia.
I had many beautiful items prepared for the fair including dressers, wine tables, chairs, botanicals and period to contemporary art.
The fair also showcased an exciting new concept by myself and Mali Moir (artist)

A recent window display we did for Brunschwig & Fils in High Street Armadale, Victoria Australia.
It is a prominent company that designs and manufactures contemporary and historically inspired decorative fabrics, wall coverings, trimmings, upholstered furniture, lamps, tables, mirrors and accessories.

Comprising of an unusually small 17th Century English Oak low dresser with an Italian Satyr figure to the right with a Flemish ebonized mirror behind, flanked by two 19th Century Chinese Water Colours on rice paper to each side.

Over the last 20 years Jamie has given many talks for different institutions and AAADA.
On Thursday 17th May Jamie gave a talk as part of the Autumn/Winter Victorian Seminar Series 2012 run by the AAADA, “Understanding styles and construction of 18th Century furniture”, he thoroughly enjoyed sharing his knowledge and stories with his guests.
Jamie has decided to do this more often and is going to hold several free talks a year in the showroom about decorating with antiques, maintaining your furniture and collections, restoring damaged pieces and general stories of furnishing and the arts.

The AAADA shows are Australia’s only international quality antique & fine art shows. They are fully vetted for authenticity and backed by the reputation of Australia’s finest antique and art dealers.
Held at the Royal Exhibition Building which is one of the world’s oldest remaining exhibition pavilions and is World Heritage listed.
Located in Carlton Gardens, the pavilion was originally completed in 1880 for the first of two international fairs hosted by Melbourne. Today, with its meticulously restored interior, expansive galleries and soaring dome, the Great Hall offers an impressive setting for the inaugural AAADA Melbourne Show

Diameter: 1′ 2″ – 34.5 cm
A two-tier Flemish bronze electrolier.
An eagle above, having ladies faces embossed to the top scrolls and flowers to the lower, all having fish to the centre, attached to the central column terminating in a turned finial.
Cleaned and completely rewired to Australian standards.
H. 88 cm Dia. 95 cm exluding cup and chain.
All chandeliers can be extended and hung to desired height.
