Advising on Sizing Down

Forty-seven years ago, I started my journey with an after-school job at the local antique shop. Since then, I’ve spent 36 wonderful years running my own business—and now, I have decided to close my retail business and start a new chapter.

This business has been a true passion. I’ve loved every part of it: helping customers find that perfect piece, restoring beloved furniture, making drawers glide like new, and offering advice on arranging homes. Most of all, I’ve cherished the conversations with locals—and their dogs! That part, I’ll miss the most.

Description

One service I’ve quietly provided for decades is helping people downsize. It’s something I do with care and experience—guiding clients through what to keep, what to let go of, and how best to sell it. I offer trusted advice on carriers, dealers, collectors, and auction houses to ensure their treasured belongings end up in the right hands.

Receiving thanks for my honest, professional advice has always meant a great deal to me. Taking the stress and uncertainty out of the process is something I pride myself on—and something few can offer at this level.

So, while I’m stepping away from the day-to-day of my shop, I will continue to offer downsizing consultation services. Whether in person or online, I’m here to help—with trusted contacts across Australia and around the world.

Variations of this story will be posted several times, as I have so many photos of shop and fair displays and several homes I’ve helped redesign their interiors, for selling or redecorating. I’d like to show the wonderful stock I’ve placed or mixed with existing surroundings or at times, such as The Johnson Collection, re decorated entirely using their pieces.
