Rare Meiji Textile Designs – Imperial Museum – Japan 1895
A finely illustrated series of Meigi Japanese textile designs for Kimonos, Fabrics, Screens and Wallpapers. They were produced by the Imperial Museum (now Tokyo National Museum) and shows intriuing compilations of traditional Japanese designs merging with European influence.
This was probably a one off publication by the museum, making them a unique example of East – West fusion.

A rare and unusual early 19th Century Japanese export writing box. This box is based on an English writing box, but entirely in Japanese style. The overall decorative chinoiserie birds and flora, mixed timbers and various styles of inlays. The interior having Japanned lacquered finish.
Note: Sectioned in Japanese manner, having a secret drawer to the right hand side of the original Japanese style brass securing pin.
