Thomas Pennant (1726-1798) was a Welsh naturalist and travel writer, achieving distinction in both fields.

He attended Oxford University.

His natural history book “The British Zoology” was published in 1766 and was very influential to the study of Zoology.

Two unusual late 18th Century French copper engravings of a ram and sheep.

The prints were not published in book form but presumably as separate engravings in a portfolio, perhaps illustrating different breeds of sheep and livestock of the time. They are fantastic examples of detailed copper engravings and very rare.
