Beautiful Yew wood pieces, sold over the years.

Thought I’d create a few posts on beautiful yew wood pieces I’ve sold over the past few decade’s.

Those who know me, know of my memory problem, due to an accident 28 years ago.
I have a short term memory.
However, every one of these wonderful pieces, I know who purchased, what they paid and where they sit in their beautiful homes.
For these memories I’m ever so grateful ❤️

18th century English yew wood windsor armchair, on cabriole legs.
Rare early 19th century Irish yew wood and chestnut windsor wedding settle.
(Sold to the wonderful John Borthwick) retired and long passed on Melbourne antique dealer.

Rare English Regency yew wood tea caddy.
Sold to one of my favourite ever customers (Jane T) sadly moved back to the UK around a decade ago.

The shaped arm rest and domino shaped arm support from an early 19th century English yew wood windsor armchair.
(Belonged to Betty L) another wonderful kind customer, sadly now passed on.

The two long yew wood panelled doors to a rare 18th century French yew wood armoire.

Very special piece, probably will have to crane into my apartment as to high for the lifts.
Will sit in my spare room and hold lots of clothes and stuff… will look amazing once there!

A rare pair of 18th Century yew wood Gothic Windsor elbow chairs

Thought I’d create a few posts on beautiful yew wood pieces I’ve sold over the past few decade’s.

I’ll start with these magnificent rare 18th century English Gothic windsor elbow chairs.

I sold these to a wonderful woman in her late 70s back in 2006. She still enjoys them every day.
Such joy they have brought to her life…

Having double bow construction, with fine tracery fretted splats oweing much to the 18th Century Gothic Revival.
The bowed arms on swept back underarm supports attached to an unusual mahogany saddle seat (typically elm) above pierced knee brackets,
raised on well-formed cabriole front legs joined by a crinoline stretcher.

Attributed to the Thames Valley region. Yew wood, fruitwood and mahogany seats.

No recorded period Gothic Windsor chair has yet been found in in any wood other than the prized yew wood.

Rare 18th Century oak wine table – Isle of Man

After much deliberation, I’ve decided to sell a few very special pieces I’ve had at home the past
20 or more years.

This magnificent wine table is one. I simply cannot house everything I’d like to.

Stock AA0785

Rare 18th Century oak wine table – Isle of Man.

The well patinated circular top supported by a beautifully turned column, raised on three down swept cabriole legs terminating in boot feet.
The shaped legs resembling the Isle of Man flag.

The flag features three running legs bent at the knees conjoined at the centre.
Local residents of the Isle of Man explain that the legs turn anti-clockwise so that they don’t kneel to the English.
The use of the emblem on the flag in the Isle of Man dates back to the 13th Century.

Note: can be raised or lowered to suit..

Surprisingly, the majority of chandeliers I import, still retain the original French globes. Once restored and placed into my showroom or customers home, the majority of globes are still working. Remarkable!

Dressing customers walls, first peices.

Last night after closing shop I visited my customers home, they recently purchased some beautiful art from me, as Julian Stafford, Picture Rail Systems hung them yesterday.

They look perfect for the spaces intended and Julian did a fantastic job!

He cleverly hung the 19th century Chinese lacquered screen from the tops, as the other side is unusually very decorative, so they can turn around when desired to change the look.
Very clever indeed.

The three framed 17th century Beslers , single Besler and three framed Elizabeth Blackwell’s perfectly placed.

If you ever require art or corner cabinets or anything hung, I highly recommend Julian.

Restoration of German Terrestrial Globe

Taking apart, removing old glues, packing the interior for stability, re-glueing and holding glues together.
Then watercoloring the damages out.
Wonderful outcome.

A rare George III solid yew-wood pembroke table – UK1881

I’ve enjoyed having this beautiful 18th century English yew-wood side table in my apartment for the past few years.
Being a dealer and having such special pieces, I have the enjoyment of living with, then selling once replacing.

I’ll truly miss this table, however living in an apartment forces one to cull!

This table will be back in my showroom next week.

Note: All stock is included in my retirement sale.
