Well worn original pigment painted patina.

Late 19th century Kenyan carved ancestral female figure, on later stand.
Interestingly, the head is completely free from woodworm.
Parts of the body, well eaten over the years.
Timber’s in one piece can vary.
Sapwood is always devoured by woodworms, the harder grain is usually untouched.
Possibly a fertile blessing given to a woman, showing the beauty of an African female figure, ready to bear children.

The rectangular moulded two-plank top, above two short, then one long cock-beaded drawers, retaining the original brass-work.

This week we collected this beautiful harlequin set of 10 dining chairs. We have nearly finished, re-gluing, polishing and waxing all.
A rare harlequin set of ten 18th century English country Hepplewhite elm, ash and fruitwood dining chairs. Comprising of 8 chairs and 2 armchairs.
The camel shaped top rails, above fret-carved centre splats, having upholstered drop in seats, resting on square-block and square-tapered legs, joined by rectangular stretchers.
Good overall colour and patination.
